Safe Sitter babysitting workshop is a nationally recognized workshop for children 11 and older to learn to be safe and effective babysitters. The course covers first aid, crime safety, fire safety, infant and child CPR with manikin practice, the Heimlich Maneuver, behavior management, illness, age-appropriate activities, diapering, the business of babysitting, and more! There are many ‘hands-on’ activities included in this clinic. (Classes offered at locations other than 55 Crocker will differ in cost and include the book only.)
Interested in a private babysitting class? Hosted at a location of your choosing! Classes are 6.5 hours long and can be scheduled on a Saturday/Sunday or weekdays in the Summer. Please call or email for more information.
This course teaches the skills of CPR for all ages. It also includes two-person CPR, the use of barrier devices (pocket mask, bag-valve mask, face shields), the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and choking skills for both conscious and unconscious victims. Textbooks are required and included with the cost of this course.
An American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Certification card is issued for two years upon successful completion of the course.
Heartsaver AED is a credentialed course that teaches the techniques of adult CPR, choking, and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). This is the recommended course if you have an AED at your worksite, or if you are purchasing or considering the purchase of an AED for your worksite. The fee includes the cost of the required textbook.
Family & Friends CPR is a non-credentialed course that teaches how to recognize and help victims of life-threatening emergencies including heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke, and choking. This course is intended for those who want to learn these skills for their own information.
No testing is involved. It is offered in modules of Adult / Child CPR and Infant CPR.
A science-based American Heart Association First Aid course. It teaches basic first aid techniques for the workplace in a new “hands-on” format, but the skills apply in any setting.
Learn how to manage sudden illness and injuries in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. Textbooks are required and included in the cost of the course. This program is approved by the State Daycare Licensing Agency and the State Board of Education for newly certified teachers.
Pediatric First Aid is a new science-based American Heart Association First Aid course. Participants learn how to manage injury and illness in children until professional help arrives.
Five modules are included: First Aid Basics which includes information on how to interact with children of different ages from birth to adolescents up to 18 years, Medical Emergencies, Injury Emergencies, Environmental Emergencies, and Optional Topics which include eye injuries, bites and stings, and suspected abuse. The optional CPR/AED modules address CPR and AED for adults & children and CPR for infants. A Heart-saver Pediatric First Aid card valid for two years is issued to participants who successfully complete the course. Textbooks are required and included in the cost. This program is approved by the State Daycare Licensing Agency and the State Board of Education for newly certified teachers. (This program is not appropriate for Adult Daycare Providers or 1st Responders at the Worksite.)
